Faculty Spotlight: Stephanie Weaver, Practical Nursing Instructor

Stephanie Weaver, a Registered Nurse (RN) by trade, has been a Practical Nursing Instructor at the GACTC since 2021. She joined our program after working in the medical field her entire adult life, specializing in general medical surgery and in-patient rehabilitation. Her dedication to the care of patients led her to her role as an instructor because it allowed her to help nurture the next generation of nurses entering the workforce. GACTC Inducts 70 Students Into National Technical Honor Society

In a night of recognition and celebration, the GACTC proudly welcomed 70 outstanding students into the prestigious National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a banquet held on November 16th. The event, coordinated by NTHS advisors Andrea Lascoli and Kelly Mayville, showcased the incredible talents and achievements of these high-achieving individuals. Students and instructors from Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, and Service Occupations played an integral role in preparing both the venue and a delicious meal that was enjoyed by all. GACTC Students Partner with Altoona Area High School to Create and Install Sensory Garden

Students of GACTC instructor Bill Doutt's masonry program built and installed planters for the new sensory garden at Altoona Area High School. The GACTC students worked from designs and schematic drawings produced by AASD's engineering and design students in a collaborative effort to create a new calming and welcoming space that stimulates “the sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound” at the high school.
