Within the curriculum, students gain fundamental knowledge, and hands-on experience with:
- air conditioning
- electrical and automated controls practices
- reading schematics
- electrical controls
- building circuits
- working with chemicals
- piping practices
- commercial refrigeration
- heating systems, including types of furnaces
- oil and gas boilers
- efficiency testing
- energy management
- safety practices
Additional training is provided in related plumbing, related electrical, and installation operations. Students participate in a print reading and related math course. Students are trained to install, troubleshoot, and service HVAC equipment. The program emphasizes the importance of good workmanship, professionalism, and work ethic.
Following successful completion of this diploma program, students may pursue employment as HVAC Technicians to work in residential or commercial settings, including homes, schools, hospitals, office buildings, or factories.
POSSIBLE CERTIFICATIONS
- EPA 608 certification
- North American Technician Excellence (NATE) CORE Certification
- OSHA 10-hour certification
