WISE Program

Attention Students!

The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center wants you to take advantage of a great opportunity to learn a trade, earn better grades, and possibly even win a car or truck! All students are eligible to participate in the GACTC WISE Program. The WISE Program focuses on four categories that we look to exemplify in our students. When nominated, students earn rewards such as tasty treats, electronics, gift baskets, and one senior student will leave the GACTC with a vehicle!

Students are eligible to participate in the WISE Program through any one of the following four pathways:

W – Work Ethic – We value and appreciate students who display good work ethic as this is an essential characteristic for success. Work ethic consists of but is not limited to: attendance, knowledge, attitude, character, cooperation, and skill.

I – Improvement – Instructors look for students who show improvement in areas such as grades, work ethic, attendance, attitude, and knowledge. We are always encouraging students to strive to improve your skills and ability. As such, we want to acknowledge your efforts for improvement.

S – Community Service – Giving back and participating in community service is a key to personal growth as well as supporting growth within our local community. If you are a student who serves in your community, you qualify for the WISE Program. Please stop in the Work Based Learning (WBL) office to pick up a community service form.

E – Excellence – It pays to earn good grades. Any student who earns a minimum 93% marking period grade qualifies for the WISE Program.

WISE Program

Each marking period, any student who qualifies for the WISE Program will receive a ticket and will qualify for a reward day. Additionally, each marking period, four qualifying students will be chosen to be “Feature Students”. The feature students will receive additional prizes and will be showcased for their achievements.

Tickets:
All tickets that students earn will be saved until the end of the school year to be used for various prize giveaways.

Car Giveaway:
Remember, students accumulate tickets every year they attend the GACTC. In addition to being used for various other prizes, each year, the GACTC seniors will have the opportunity to have their ticket pulled to win a car or truck!

The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center values good work ethic, student improvement, community service, and a strive for excellence. The WISE Program allows us to thank our students for building character that improves us all as individuals and as a community. If you have any questions about the program, please contact:
