Yesterday the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) inducted 51 students into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), an educational nonprofit that honors, recognizes, and empowers students and teachers in career and technical education.

“The NTHS recognizes our top students for not only their dedication to excellence in their education at the GACTC, but also for their strong character,” said Nicole Taneyhill, NTHS advisor at the GACTC.

GACTC students are first eligible to be inducted into the NTHS in 11th grade. Requirements include:
93% or higher at the GACTC
85% or higher at home school
Fewer than 10 days absent
No behavior referrals

Founded in 1984, NTHS serves over 100,000 members annually across the country, and nearly 1 million students have become alumni. In addition to honoring top career and technology students across the country, NTHS provides up to $300,000 in scholarships annually, and helps connect education and industry to build a highly skilled workforce.
