The GACTC is proud to announce that DorieSue Walker, a recent graduate of the Medical Assistant Diploma program, has been awarded the Maxine Williams Scholarship, a national honor recognizing outstanding medical assisting students.
The Maxine Williams Scholarship Fund, established in 1959, provides educational assistance to deserving students pursuing careers in medical assisting. The fund is named after Maxine Williams, a founder of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and its first president. Supported entirely by private contributions, the scholarship continues to celebrate excellence in education, dedication to the profession, and a commitment to patient care.
Throughout her time in the program, Walker distinguished herself through academic excellence, a genuine passion for helping others, and perseverance. Her recognition on the national stage reflects her hard work and the bright future she has in the medical assisting profession. “We are thrilled to see her accomplishments recognized on a national level. Her perseverance and compassion embody everything the field of medical assisting represents. We could not be prouder of her achievement,” commented Julie Patosky, Continuing Education Coordinator.
The scholarship is awarded annually by the AAMA to students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership, and promise in the field of medical assisting. DorieSue joins a distinguished group of recipients who represent the future of health care and the medical assisting profession.
