The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center (GACTC) celebrated the achievements of 317 seniors during its annual Senior Ceremony held on May 20th at the Blair County Convention Center. The ceremony recognized students who successfully completed their career and technical education programs of study.
The celebration drew an audience of approximately 1,300 attendees, including proud family members, friends, GACTC faculty and staff, administration from sending school districts, and members of the Joint Operating Committee. The ceremony served as a culmination of the students’ dedicated work in their chosen career pathways.
“The Senior Ceremony is the celebration of an incredible journey we’ve shared with these students,” said Chelsea Gibbons, Assistant Principal. “For three to four years, our graduates have spent two and a half hours daily in our building, working closely with our dedicated faculty and staff. These relationships become almost familial over time. Watching them walk across the stage is my favorite moment of the year – seeing the transformation from the eager novices who first entered our doors to the confident, skilled professionals they’ve become truly captures the heart of what we do at the GACTC.”
The diverse group of seniors completed programs spanning various career fields, from healthcare and information technology to automotive technology and cosmetology. Many students earned industry certifications or college credits in addition to their certificates of completion, positioning them for immediate employment or continued education.
