Skilled electricians are in high demand. Electrical trades offer diverse opportunities, and a chance to do fulfilling, hands-on work daily. And it’s rewarding, too. In Pennsylvania, the median wage for electricians is over $30 per hour.

At the GACTC, the Adult Electrical Trades Program, led by experienced instructor John Petrilla, we prepare our students to enter this field and kickstart a terrific career.

John—a seasoned electrician with experience ranging from working in the building trades to being an electrician in the military, and even starting his own independent electrical business—finds the GACTC to be an ideal environment for his students to develop the skills necessary to excel in the electrical trades field.

Adults completing this program earn valuable certifications that show potential employers that they are ready to work on day one, including OSHA 10, Telehandler/Mobile Elevated Work Platform, and others.

However, John’s students learn more than the standard technical skills.

Within the classes, we reinforce work ethic, teamwork, and customer service and communication skills. The ability to work with others is a must in the field.

The GACTC Electrical Trades curriculum is structured so that students maximize their time in the classroom and shop areas. John introduces a concept, and ensures that the students have perfected that skill, then finds ways to employ that knowledge in a variety of situations. This gives the students multiple opportunities to see how the knowledge and skills will be applied in the field.

Working as a professional electrician requires practiced application of a lot of complicated skills. Which is why John emphasizes hands-on training throughout the program.

In this classroom, or out in the field, you will always be learning more; getting better. These are the concepts we work on daily.

If you’re ready for an exciting career in the electrical trades, this program is for you. Guided by a lifetime of expertise, John is ready to prepare you to excel in this in-demand field.
