After graduating from the GACTC in 2007, Dan Pielmeier began building his career in the automotive industry. As a student in Mr. Dalby’s class, he stood out for his dedication and work ethic, earning induction into the National Honor Society and being named Senior of the Year. His passion for the trade started early, working at just 15 years old sweeping floors at McCracken’s Garage in his hometown of Bellwood, where he gained practical, real-life experience.
Following graduation, Dan grew his skills in a variety of roles, including working as a shuttle driver for NAPA, a test cell operator, and a frac pump assembler at Gardner Denver. He later spent ten years at Penn Public Truck and Equipment, developing expertise in precision alignments and complex mechanical repairs.
Dan eventually returned to the GACTC, initially planning to serve as an instructional aide. Following Mr. Gibbons‘ retirement, he was encouraged to apply for the open teaching position, making the transition from the shop to the classroom. Since then, he has been sharing his knowledge and experience with students as an automotive instructor.
Now in his third year of teaching, Dan takes pride in preparing the next generation of technicians. Returning to the GACTC has been a full-circle experience, giving him the opportunity to work alongside the instructor who once mentored him. His journey reflects the lasting impact of hands-on education, strong mentorship, and a commitment to the skilled trades.
